Greater awareness? Sure, I think that's right. It's hard to be aware of much when you are trapped inside your own mind, worries, and self absorption. Turns out not everything in the world has something to do with me. Who knew???

Still wish I was going to Rio with you ;)

Re: to live by

Discussion of such topics can go on endlessly. Probably because only you can really know what is best for yourself. In identifying areas for improvement, you simplify the process by removing at least the first step of many to come. Its not my place to discuss them either, because they are your principles. They all seem to be based upon what might be the greater principle of awareness? each one requires you to be aware of something greater.

Re: Police

Thanks for the kind words =D

This photo is from the first time I ever did any sort of photojournalism. I captured this shot during a National Socialist Movement protest in Washington D.C. that I randomly ran into. I ended up following the protest all the way to the capitol (and subsequently had to run back to the White House in order to catch a bus!). Oddly enough, all of those protest images were taken through a cheap 70-300mm lens I picked up for $5 on eBay.

Re: Would a Platypus drive Aptera’s 300 MPG car?

A car that boasts a 300MPG or a 120 mile-before-plug in rate that is only $25000 and $26900? Wow.

Now that is putting modern technology to good use. If I was in the market for a new car, I might seriously consider one of these.

For 300MPG I think I could withstand sticking out like a sore thumb with a vehicle like that. :)

Re: Design: Stairs with a hidden adgenda

The idea of there being drawers in my stairs would totally throw my brain off, but it's an ingenious way to provide extra storage in a discrete way.

I think it would be lovely until one of the drawers stopped staying shut.

Re: Barack Obama: fundamentally changing the world’s perception

Any American that has lived overseas (esp. developing world) would immediatley recognize the automatic connection (street cred) Obama has with the (2/3) Third World. He has this just by having lived there and the blood ties. He seals the deal in his actons as highlighted in the article. I had to live in New Guinea for 4 years to "get" this. I see the fundamental change happening already, the day after the election.

Re: I dream of this Library

Only one major thing I'd add. Jeanne, honey, haven't you ever gotten a head cold? Don't tell me that you have never sneezed!! What are you God or something? Listen, germaphobe, that man has to do what he has to do. Great video! However, I noticed something about your desktop...the location of the Services menu. How did you get it so that it's displayed directly on the main menu bar? I would love to be able to do that on my Mac as well! Would save me a ton of clicks! Maybe we as a great Nation should listen to a lot of people. Not to do always what they say, but certainly to hear them and give them voice at the minimum.

At the Nation level, countries and leaders that don't feel they have a voice seem to get desperate and act out in desperate ways, looking for attention and far worse. There are a few very solid ways to escalate violence, and not listening well or at all is chief among them.

Re: Barack Obama: fundamentally changing the world’s perception

This is a question for Mr. Obama rather than a comment; it is asked because I would like to be better able to eveluate Mr. Obama as a potential president: Who are the most important foreign leaders (not necessaritly heads of state) with whom your administation would deal, why are they so important, and what policy or policies would you follow in dealing with them?
